Instructor Training
Our Instructor Training Program is designed to provide comprehensive, hands-on training to ensure that all our instructors are fully equipped to deliver the highest quality education.
1 to 1 Training
We believe that individualized attention is key to effective learning. Our program features:
-
One-on-one training sessions with experienced instructors.
-
Customized lesson plans tailored to each trainee's needs and learning pace.
-
Direct feedback and guidance throughout the training process.
100% In-Car Training
Unlike some training programs that rely on online virtual training or classroom settings, our program emphasizes:
-
Complete in-car training to provide practical, hands-on experience.
-
Real-time instruction in a controlled environment, allowing for immediate application of skills.
-
Opportunities to practice driving techniques and teaching methods in real traffic conditions.
The Process
Brennans Driving can guide you through every step to become a DVSA‑approved driving instructor — from eligibility checks and DBS to passing the three DVSA qualifying tests and joining our team as a trainee and franchised instructor. We provide mentor support, structured training program and practical on‑road coaching to help you pass and build a sustainable teaching career.
Step‑by‑step process to qualify
-
Check eligibility — confirm age, licence history and fitness to teach; review the ADI register guidance.
-
Apply and complete DBS — start your application and obtain a new Disclosure and Barring Service check as required by DVSA.
-
Get a trainer / join a training programme — work with a registered trainer or approved school (we provide in‑house mentoring and structured preparation) to prepare for the three qualifying tests.
-
Pass the three DVSA tests:
-
Part 1: Theory test (multiple choice and hazard perception).
-
Part 2: Practical driving test (demonstrate high standard of driving).
-
Part 3: Instructional ability test (assessed teaching session).
-
-
Register on the ADI register once you pass all parts and meet ‘fit and proper’ checks.
-
Ongoing development — continue CPD, consider teaching Pass Plus or specialist modules to expand services and income.
